William Hoffman, director of community education at The Cleveland Play House, will help us kick off the 2005-2006 Broadway Buzz season by hosting the LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS Pre-Show Talks. Following the November 10th & 17th performances of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, join us for an especially delicious Broadway Buzz Post-Show Chat with Audrey II. Puppet Talk is sponsored by WKYC Channel 3 and Radio Disney. We hope you’ve enjoyed reading the first edition of this season’s Broadway Buzz e-newsletter. It is our pleasure to introduce our new writer Tom Stephan. Mr. Stephan combined his acting avocation with his vocational pursuits for 31 years before he retired from English and drama teaching at Stow-Munroe Falls High School. He was recognized as a “child star” at the age of seven when he first appeared onstage in Canton, Ohio, but it was actually at the age of 21 when he began teaching school that the drama bug bit once more. He started with a supporting role in a Stow Players production, and has now been seen in over 65 major productions in the greater Akron-Canton area, including Actors’ Summit, The Ohio Shakespeare Festival, The Weathervane Playhouse, Coach House Theater, Goodyear Theater, the old Bath Players, and the Players Guild of Canton. He has won five Best Actor and one Best Supporting Actor Awards from various area theaters, and was honored by the State Department of Education for implementation of a middle school program called “Drama in the Classroom.” Several years ago he also branched out into radio and TV, serving as spokesman and voice-over talent for commercial and industrial work. The Arts Education Department of Playhouse Square Center is thrilled to cast Mr. Stephan in his newest role, Broadway Buzz writer. Our reviews are in too – bravo Tom! Welcome to the Broadway Buzz team.
