Everyone knows it’s true.
Blondes do have more fun because they do get all the guys. Why?
Because Blondes are good looking, sexy, skinny and always deserve a second look.
Right?
Elle Woods is the perfect blonde…she gets everything she wants.
She’s pretty, president of her sorority, has tons of friends, wealthy parents. She sets the fashion, has “the best fricking shoes” and storeowners give her free clothes! She has a 4.0 GPA at UCLA, the perfect boyfriend who is handsome, rich and headed to Harvard Law School. Her future is about to come true...
Now that a man chose you
Your life begins today
Elle Woods has it all, right?
Wrong! She doesn’t get everything she wants handed to her. Her boyfriend has dreams that don’t include her.
Elle gets dumped by Warner Huntington III who tells her that he needs
someone classy and not too tacky someone serious
and believes Elle is the kind of girl who would
sleep her way to the top.
Her parents think her wanting to go to law school is “absurd” because Elle is not one of the “serious people.”
Her first day of Harvard, she didn’t do the assignment so the professor asks her to withdraw. In fact, Harvard only accepted her for reasons of “multiculturalism.” Elle is
Flunking out of school, a total laughingstock.
Someone he and his friends can just mock!
Everyone thought she would fail.
You’re not going to make it through the semester, let alone get Callahan’s internship.
Surprise, she DOES get the internship, but her professor only hired her because she is blonde. When she doesn’t accept his advances …he fires her.
Elle doesn’t get her beau back either, because he’s
dating an evil preppy, with a mousy brown bob.
She’s not even a role model for her friends because
if a girl like you can’t win back her man, then there is no hope for the rest of us.
Elle tearfully says,
I’m sorry, I’m letting ev’ryone down. Being blonde and being hot
That got me absolutely squat.
This Blonde is NOT having fun and her gentleman seems to prefer a mousy brown bob.
Elle has two choices, she can go brunette or
got to prove to everyone that I’m serious.
How? By abandoning her signature pink and get to work.
No more whining or blaming Grab that book and let’s do this-
Show ‘em that you’re no fool.
Once Elle realizes
There is still so much to learn So many dreams to earn
But even if I crash and burn Ten times a day I’m gonna find my way.
and even thanks
the ones who thought I’d fall Who taught me how to fail Who helped me to prevail! I’m standing here today ‘Cause you helped me find my way!
Only then does the Blonde REALLY have fun and find the gentleman who prefers her.
But Elle has a secret…
For years I hid my highlights.
Wait! Is Elle NOT a REAL Blonde?
Didn’t your mother ever teach you about not judging a book by its cover?
In 1964, Shirley Polykoff wrote one of the top ten advertising slogans of the century for Clairol.
Does she … or doesn’t she, only her hairdresser knows for sure.
Prior to this ad, hair coloring was not something that was advertised. Polykoff’s goal was to make hair coloring respectable and let everyone know that women who color their hair are just like the “girl next door.” In fact, when TV and print ads were released, they often featured a child next to a woman showing that “respectable” women colored their hair.
Polykoff also wrote the following iconic Clairol ads
If I’ve only one life…let me live it as a blonde!
Is it true blondes have more fun?
