SYNOPSIS
AN EVENING WITH PATTI LUPONE AND MANDY PATINKIN pays homage to world renowned and celebrated Broadway composers Stephen Sondheim, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein, and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The show was conceived and directed by Mr. Patinkin, who explains, "We've set out to create an entertaining evening for the audiences and fun for Patti and me. Through some of the greatest material ever written for the theater, both sung and spoken, we'll tell the story of two people, from their first encounter through the passage of time in their lives. There will be familiar and some surprising song choices. Patti and I have been friends for a long time, but haven't been onstage together in 25 years. I'm thrilled to be sharing the stage again with my dear friend."
DID YOU KNOW…
Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin first met on the Broadway stage more than 20 years ago in the original New York production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical Evita? Here is your chance to see the reunion of these award winning Broadway superstars.
When Mr. Patinkin’s agent first suggested he audition for the new rock opera Evita, he was not interested. His agent insisted he attend the audition, so he went (in a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt), and got offered the part! Nevertheless, he remained uninterested until he heard that fellow Julliard School alum Patti LuPone had signed to play the lead. He jumped at the chance to work with her and the rest, as they say, is Broadway history…which continues in AN EVENING WITH PATTI LUPONE AND MANDY PATINKIN.
