Please note that the Wednesday, November 21 performance of The Whipping Man has been cancelled. 

Set at the end of the Civil War, The Whipping Man explores what happens when two former slaves decide to care for their injured slave master - and discover that each of them has a startling secret that binds them together. Praised as “emotionally potent” by The New York Times, this suspenseful drama was the surprise hit of last year’s New York season.
Content Advisory: Recommended for ages 12 and up. Contains strong language and graphic depiction of surgery.

Children Policy:
Children under two years old are generally not permitted in the theaters. At designated performances Children of all ages are permitted. However, everyone regardless of age must have a ticket. All children must be seated with an adult. Any person disrupting a performance or inhibiting the enjoyment of an event for guests may be removed from the theater without refund.

Where do we park?

The PlayhouseSquare Garage is located at East 15th and Chester with elevators located on each level and a walkway to the complex. PlayhouseSquare has kept event night parking affordable for our customers. Parking can be purchased for the on-site PlayhouseSquare garage for just $12.00 ($10.00 advance purchase). Do you need to purchase tickets by phone or in-person?

The Ticket Office is located in the State Theatre lobby and is open Monday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Hours vary when we have an evening performance and will also vary during the summer months. To confirm operating hours call the Ticket Office information line at 216-771-8403. Tickets may also be purchased by phone Monday - Sunday from 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. at 216-241-6000 or 866-546-1353.
