Slam U is all about you…speaking your mind, building skills for the future, affecting change. Get ready to pick up a pen, take hold of a microphone or spin a turntable to express yourself and promote social, artistic, educational and political change.
The 411:
Who: Northeast Ohio teens ages 14-19
What: Free spoken word and leadership events
When: January-April 2011
Where: Idea Center at PlayhouseSquare, 1375 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH
Why: To find your voice, speak your mind, be on stage, make new friends…and compete for a spot on Cleveland’s Youth Poetry Slam Team

Peer Mentors
Students who have participated in the Slam U program for at least one year are eligible to apply for one of 10 paid peer mentoring positions. Peer mentors lead workshops and slams at PlayhouseSquare, providing an encouraging and enlightening experience for all participants. Peer mentors must be available for training during January 2011 and be able to commit to the Slam U schedule. Applications will be available in August.
