20th Annual Music Masters Series: Tribute to Smokey Robinson

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Case Western Reserve University will honor R&B and soul legend William “Smokey” Robinson during the 20th Annual Music Masters™ series, presented by Klipsch Audio. The weeklong celebration, November 2-7, 2015, will culminate with the Annual Music Masters concert on Saturday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. EST at Playhouse Square’s State Theatre.

Tribute concert performers scheduled to appear include:

•    1995 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Martha Reeves 
•    1988 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Mary Wilson 
•    Avant

•    Eric Roberson
•    The Robert Glasper Experiment
•    Michelle Williams
 
Adam Blackstone will serve as the tribute concert’s Musical Director.  Blackstone has served as the Musical Director for top-flight acts like Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Maroon 5, Jay Z, Pharrell Williams, and Justin Timberlake.  Robinson, a 1987 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, will attend the tribute concert to accept the award, but is not scheduled to perform.  

To open the tribute concert, Case Western Reserve will bestow an Honorary Degree to Smokey Robinson, recognizing his many musical and cultural contributions, which extend from enduring songs to his leadership in the music industry. The university awards Honorary Degrees to recognize those who exemplify in their work the highest ideals and standards of excellence in any valued aspect of human endeavor, including scholarship, public service and the performing arts.

Children Policy:
Children under two years old are generally not permitted in the theaters. At designated performances Children of all ages are permitted. However, everyone regardless of age must have a ticket. All children must be seated with an adult. Any person disrupting a performance or inhibiting the enjoyment of an event for guests may be removed from the theater without refund.

Where do we park?

The PlayhouseSquare Garage is located at East 15th and Chester with elevators located on each level and a walkway to the complex. PlayhouseSquare has kept event night parking affordable for our customers. Parking can be purchased for the on-site PlayhouseSquare garage for just $15.00 ($13.00 advance purchase). Do you need to purchase tickets by phone or in-person?

The Ticket Office is located in the State Theatre lobby and is open Monday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Hours vary when we have an evening performance and will also vary during the summer months. To confirm operating hours call the Ticket Office information line at 216-771-8403.
