Event Description

Step Afrika! is the world’s first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping—a polyrhythmic, percussive dance form that uses the body as an instrument.  Based on Step Afrika!’s award-winning arts education programs and more than twenty-five years of performing and teaching students, the Company has created Five Days with Step Afrika! to support the current academic environment as well as the challenges of virtual learning.  

Recommended Grades: K-12

Content available to stream on demand at a time of your choosing now through February 26, 2021. You may access content for your classroom multiple times. One registration per classroom required. Closed captioning is available on all videos for accessibility.

Streaming content includes:

  • Pre-show Classroom Connections Workshop video
  • Introduction video from the artists of Step Afrika highlighting the history of stepping
  • Pre-recorded tutorial on step dancing
  • Performance videos (in two segments, roughly 20 minutes each)
  • Pre-recorded Q&A video with the artist of Step Afrika
  • Post-show Classroom Connections Workshop video

Registrations may be completed online with a credit card. Please contact us to register with a purchase order. Full payment is required prior to receiving access to the performance content. This purchase allows you the right to stream performance videos and corresponding educational content for the show Five Days with Step Afrika!, for one (1) classroom only. Permission to stream this content for additional classes may be purchased separately. Performance videos and educational content will be available for streaming on demand February 1-26, 2021.

Streaming instructions will be sent to the educator indicated on the forthcoming “Questions” page of this order process. If you purchase access to this content before January 29, you will receive an email with viewing instructions on February 1. If you purchase access to this content on or after January 29, you will receive an email with viewing instructions within one (1) business day of purchase. Registrations after the performance window has opened will not receive full or partial refunds for unused content due to time restraints.
