Tommy Emmanuel

Two-time GRAMMY nominee Tommy Emmanuel is one of Australia’s most respected musicians. With a professional career spanning five decades, Tommy has garnered hundreds of thousands of loyal fans worldwide.

Chet Atkins honored Tommy with the title of “Certified Guitar Player” for his contribution to guitar music, a very rare distinction shared by only four other people in the world.  After an amazing performance with his brother Phil at the Sydney Olympic Games Closing Ceremony, the world wanted to know who this mysterious Australian guitar virtuoso was.  In 2001, Tommy released his first solo acoustic album, ONLY and his popularity has grown 
by leaps and bounds aided by a non-stop touring schedule and increasing exposure in the media.His album The Mystery  earned him another Grammy nomination, and in 2008 Guitar Player Magazine and Acoustic Guitar Magazine named him Best Acoustic Guitarist and Gold Medalist in the in the Readers’ Choice and Players’ Choice Awards.  Guitar Player’s 2010 Readers Choice awards named him Best Acoustic Guitarist for the second time! In all, Tommy’s catalogue includes over 20 musical recordings of solos, duets, ensembles, cover tunes, originals, utilizing both electric and acoustic guitar. He has made 6 live performance DVDs, 6 additional instructional DVDs and CDRoms, and he regularly teaches master classes while on the road.Tommy’s latest album is the self-released and highly 
anticipated live CD/DVD combo, “Tommy Emmanuel cgp: Live and Solo in Pensacola, Florida.” Recorded live in early 2013 in Pensacola, FL this CD/DVD includes old and new favorites, exhibiting Tommy’s amazing showmanship and musical talent as he performs before a packed house.

Performing live for his fans is extremely important to Tommy:   he has demonstrated this by playing close to or over 300 concerts every year for the last seven years!  
Guitar players of all levels come to his shows to watch him work his magic, but his appeal goes far beyond musicians.  His live shows are known for their humor, performance, passion, and infectious joy.

Tommy Emmanuel’s message is just pure love for the music and his delight in sharing it with the world, one audience at a time. 

Children Policy:

Children under two years old are generally not permitted in the theaters. At designated performances Children of all ages are permitted. However, everyone regardless of age must have a ticket. All children must be seated with an adult. Any person disrupting a performance or inhibiting the enjoyment of an event for guests may be removed from the theater without refund.

Where do we park?

The PlayhouseSquare Garage is located at East 15th and Chester with elevators located on each level and a walkway to the complex. PlayhouseSquare has kept event night parking affordable for our customers. Parking can be purchased for the on-site PlayhouseSquare garage for just $15.00 ($12.00 advance purchase). Do you need to purchase tickets by phone or in-person?

The Ticket Office is located in the State Theatre lobby and is open Monday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Hours vary when we have an evening performance and will also vary during the summer months. To confirm operating hours call the Ticket Office information line at 216-771-8403. Tickets may also be purchased by phone Monday - Sunday from 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. at 216-241-6000 or 866-546-1353.
