Payroll Assistant/Ticket Office Auditor

As part of the accounting team, the Payroll Assistant-Ticket Office Auditor is responsible for payroll backup and processing along with ticket office auditing and recording of revenue and associated reconciliations.  Under the direct supervision of the Payroll Manager, the position also receives direction from the Senior Accountant.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll Assistant

  • Processes segments of bi-weekly union and non-union Playhouse Square Foundation payroll on a rotating basis to retain and refine skills necessary for backup duties
  • Provides backup for Payroll Manager during vacations and other time off
  • Processes non-union bi-weekly Real Estate Services payroll including calculating child support and garnishments, importing data from timekeeper, preparing and transmitting 401k files, creating and loading direct deposit and positive pay files and scanning documents for digital record retention
  • Assists Payroll Manager with special projects
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

Ticket Office Auditor

  • Handles Ticket Office transaction administration under the supervision of the Senior Accountant:
    • Audits and records sales and receipts
    • Resolves ticketing problems with appropriate individuals/organizations
    • Records all chargebacks for Playhouse Square; records/handles NSF checks
    • Matches Ticket Office deposit slips to bank returned deposit slips
    • Codes check or credit card refund forms
  • Analyzes associated general ledger accounts monthly; prepares related schedules; reconciles miscellaneous accounts as assigned
  • Prepares weekly resident company settlements
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of processing payroll from beginning to end including:

G/L interface, tax return preparation, timekeeping interface, journal account postings and adjustments, interpreting payroll tax law and knowledge of current tax forms (new W-4), exporting and manipulating data in Excel

  • Minimum of two years payroll experience required; preferred Associates degree in Accounting
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
  • Knowledge of current PC hardware and software, including Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially as it relates to timely response to requests
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills including attention to detail
  • Ability to display professionalism when working with confidential information
