Services for Guests with Disabilities

Playhouse Square offers barrier-free access to performances and events. For more information about our services for persons with disabilities, please call the Playhouse Square Ticket Office at 216-771-8403.

Audio Description

Audio description for individuals with a visual impairment is available for select performances courtesy of the Cleveland Sight Center. This service provides an opportunity for guests with impairment to listen to a description of the non-verbal aspects of a live performance.

A trained audio describer communicates the set design, costumes, facial expressions, body language, and movement of the actors during pauses in the dialogue. Small, closed circuit receivers are used to broadcast this live from the sound booth to an earpiece worn by the guest listening to the description; other guests do not hear this information.

The Cleveland Sight Center will try to accommodate special requests made for additional performance dates. Please call 216-791-8118, ext. 303, two weeks in advance to make a special request for additional dates.
