Communications Manager

Responsibilities

  1. Embrace Playhouse Square values and programs that further Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the department.
  2. Develop and implement communications, publicity and marketing plans for the Playhouse Square institutional brand, district, special events, promotions and performances.
  3. Manage institutional initiatives that pertain to the brand.
  4. Write and develop brand content for the Playhouse Square website, blog, show programs, social media and other mediums.
  5. Provide communications and promotional support to Playhouse Square departments, The Lumen, Crowne Plaza Hotel and district partners.
  6. Provide talking points and training regarding Playhouse Square, our brand and institutional initiatives to front line staff members and volunteers.
  7. Maintain Playhouse Square Editorial Style Guide, Brand Guide and crisis communications plan.
  8. Ensure brand consistency in all Playhouse Square communications.
  9. Participate in social media monitoring in rotation with other communications team members.
  10. Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in media relations, public relations or communications; marketing experience a plus.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  3. Superior verbal and written communications skills with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines and be flexible. Available to work evenings and weekends as needed. Writing samples required.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  6. Knowledge of Northeast Ohio media and professional relationships with reporters a plus.
  7. Experience composing executive communications (speeches, letters, presentations) a plus.
  8. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Power Point, Excel and Word. Experience with web CMS a plus.
