Responsibilities include: 

  1. Embrace Playhouse Square values and programs that further Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the department.
  2. Continually monitor visitors entering and leaving Playhouse Square; afford guests garage access after garage closing.
  3. Provide information to visitors such as vendors, visiting companies, and staff as needed.
  4. Monitor and remain current on all aspects of the fire protection and enunciator panels.
  5. Monitor the activities of the parking lot.
  6. Using the base station, accurately monitors all calls and relay as needed.
  7. Maintain a daily log of all reportable activities, which occur relative to security.
  8. Direct all deliveries and vendors passing the Security Station.
  9. Sign walkie-talkies in and out on a daily basis as needed and monitor the function of these radios, i.e. be sure batteries are charged and units are in good condition.
  10. Keep all necessary departments aware of sick calls as received, mornings, evenings, and weekends.  Inform necessary department supervisors or managers of staff call-ins.
  11. Continually be on the lookout for hazardous and unsafe conditions and report them as needed.
  12. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  13. Keep track of all video equipment and monitoring devices in the Security Station.
  14. Be properly trained on all telephone equipment.
  15. Be familiar with all security procedures as they relate to Playhouse Square.
  16. Maintain a professional attitude and expert communications when dealing with the public and staff.
  17. Assist in the communication between departments when needed.
  18. Maintain contact with Playhouse Square parking garage.
  19. Be properly trained and proficient at all posts throughout Playhouse Square and be prepared, on any duty day, to assume a change of assignment as directed.


  1. 120 hours of security training and private security certificate or equivalent experience required.
  2. Excellent verbal communication skills.
  3. Outgoing, people oriented person with outstanding interpersonal skills.
  4. Knowledge of current PC hardware and software; knowledge of communication devices and fire enunciator equipment helpful.
