Lead Building Engineer

Playhouse Square Real Estate Services is looking for someone to oversee day to day maintenance activities and work alongside maintenance personnel to complete projects and preventive maintenance.  Must be available for after hours work and emergency call-ins. 

  • Supervise maintenance personnel on a day to day basis; provide Facility Operations Manager with feedback on performance.
  • Maintain and organize adequate stock of parts and supplies within budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintain proper and current list of equipment manuals and MSDS sheets.           
  • Assist in preparation of repairs and maintenance section of annual budget.
  • Maintain physical condition of each property under his/her supervision.
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports to Facility Operations Manager.
  • Handle or assign tenant service requests to ensure tenant satisfaction.
  • Participate in building and tenant improvement projects as directed.
  • Maintain good working relationship with tenants and employees.
  • Receive tenant complaints and building issues and distribute to maintenance staff for completion and follow-up.
  • Make recommendations to improve operations and efficiency.
  • Be available for after hours work and emergency call in.
  • Train all building engineers and maintenance team.


  • Vocational or trade school and/or maintenance experience; engineers license a plus
  • SMA Certification and Boiler’s license a plus
  • 3-5 years experience in related field, basic supervisory experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of building systems hardware and software; basic PC hardware and software knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • CFC Certification or comparable mechanical licensure or experience.
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the job (climb ladders, access roofs, move heavy equipment, etc.)
