Playhouse Square is a not-for-profit organization that positively impacts our community. However, proceeds from ticket sales alone do not fully cover our operating costs. We rely on the generous support of foundations, corporations and individuals like you to meet our annual need of more than $7 million.
The largest performing arts center outside of New York, Playhouse Square is unique, both locally and nationally, for its sound financial stewardship, wise foresight and lasting impact. This support enables us to bring a diverse selection of quality performances to Cleveland, provide community engagement and education programming and create a destination for entertainment, business and living.
This past year has been extremely challenging. The cancellation of more than 1,100 performances resulted in a finanical loss of $7 million. Although we are now planning to open our doors to audiences once again, our need is still great. Your contribution will help us move forward and work towards ensuring that Playhouse Square remains strong for our community now and for future generations.
In Memory of Glenn Brown - June 1, 1930 - May 16, 2021
Glenn joined the Board of Trustees in July 1980 and served as Chair for five years, beginning in 1981. During this time, he was instrumental in the national search that led to Art Falco succeeding Larry Wilker as President & CEO. Proudly, we opened the then named Wyndham Hotel in 1995. In June 2016, Glenn was named Trustee for Life. For the past four decades Glenn and his wife Jenny have been a part of the Playhouse Square family. He will be greatly missed.
