Located at E 13th St. and Euclid Ave., The Corner Gallery is Playhouse Square’s new exhibition space designed to bolster ongoing activity in the downtown district.

Mummies of the World is one of the most popular traveling exhibitions in North America, and we are thrilled to host it at Playhouse Square in The Corner Gallery,” said David Greene, Playhouse Square Senior Vice President of Programming. “We are excited that this exhibit will allow us to further activate the Playhouse Square District and give guests – both new and returning – different, exciting and memorable experiences when they come and visit.”

Mummies of the World is the largest exhibition of real mummies and related artifacts ever assembled and presents a never-before-seen collection of naturally and intentionally preserved mummies. This compelling collection, presented with reverence and dignity, includes ancient mummies and important artifacts from all over the world, including Europe, South America and Ancient Egypt. The exhibition utilizes modern science and multi-media exhibits to reveal a window into the past with the study of mummies.

“We say that ‘inside every mummy is a story waiting to be told’ and Mummies of the World tells thousands of years of captivating history,” described John Norman, President of World Heritage Exhibitions. “Visitors to the exhibition are in for a fascinating journey highlighted by real stories of real people. Throughout this exhibition we really get to know these individuals and families, who, in many cases, were everyday people just like you and me. It’s that common humanity which truly connects us and brings history alive, creating a unique learning experience for visitors or all ages.”

Mummies of the World is presented by Playhouse Square, World Heritage Exhibitions and MagicSpace Entertainment. For more details on the artifacts featured in the exhibition[i], go to playhousesquare.org/mummies.

“We look forward to working alongside Playhouse Square and World Heritage Exhibitions to brings Mummies of the World to Northeast Ohio,” said Lee Marshall, CEO of MagicSpace Entertainment. “Guests who experience Mummies of the World will be transported back more than 4,500 years to learn about the captivating stories of past cultures and lives from every region of the world. We invite guests to come unlock the mysteries of these ancient civilizations as modern science reveals their secrets.”

Please note: This exhibition contains the mummified remains of people who lived in the past. Playhouse Square understands and acknowledges there are a variety of cultural and religious perspectives on the display of deceased individuals. We display this special exhibition for educational purposes. Families with younger children who may not have previously experienced an exhibition like this one may wish to focus on its educational aspects.
