Ticket & Theater Guidelines

  • For information on accessibility and curbside assistance, click here.
  • All ticket sales are final. Refunds, exchanges or retroactive discounts are not possible.
  • Performance times and cast members are beyond our control and are subject to change without advance notification.
  • Performances are not canceled and refunds are not provided due to weather conditions.
  • Each individual show’s producer or artist determines the seating guidelines for late arriving guests. In some instances, if you arrive after the show begins, you may be asked to wait until there is a natural break in the act before going to your seat.
  • Playhouse Square prides itself on offering a diverse selection of arts entertainment. Not all productions may appeal to or be appropriate for every person or for all ages. Guests are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the shows we offer in order to make informed decisions prior to purchasing tickets.
  • Children age two and older are welcome to attend performances at Playhouse Square. We encourage parents to use their discretion when deciding if a show is appropriate for their child. Regardless of age, all children must have a ticket and be seated with an adult. At designated shows, children of all ages are welcome and children under the age of one will be admitted without charge to sit on an adult’s lap.
  • Any person disrupting a performance or inhibiting the enjoyment of an event for guests may be removed from the theater without refund.
  • Playhouse Square inspects all handbags, diaper bags and cases at points of entry.
  • The following items are not permitted in Playhouse Square theaters. Please leave them in your car or at home.
    • Backpacks and other large bags
    • Cameras; camera phones; audio, video and digital recorders; and paging devices. Mobile phones may not be used during a performance. Guests using these items may be ejected without refund.
    • Outside food and beverage
    • Playhouse Square is a firearms-free facility. No one except on-duty law enforcement officials is permitted to possess or carry a firearm on the premises.
  • Smoking, including electronic smoking, is not permitted indoors at Playhouse Square.
  • Playhouse Square is not able to verify the authenticity of tickets purchased through third parties.

Buyer Be Aware!

Here’s why buying directly from Playhouse Square or a licensed group or travel leader is your safest bet:

  • You won’t pay more than face value for your tickets.
  • You will have tickets for seats that really exist.
  • We can reprint your tickets if they are lost or stolen.
  • We can contact you in the event of a time change, construction or other news you may need.
  • If a performance is rescheduled, we can contact you and issue tickets for the new date.

Here are some steps you can take to protect yourself:

  • Don’t assume you will have to buy from a third party if you did not purchase season tickets or missed the first day of single ticket sales. Check playhousesquare.org first.
  • If you are buying tickets online, go directly to playhousesquare.org.
  • If you use a search engine to look for tickets, search for “Playhouse Square.”
  • If you search by the name of a show or performer, make sure to click on the link that takes you to playhousesquare.org. Don’t be fooled by other official sounding names such as “State Theatre tickets” or “Cleveland Broadway tickets.” The first result that comes up is not always the best!
  • If your ticketing outlet does not issue you an exact section, row and seat number, you are dealing with an unauthorized third party – and your seat is not guaranteed.
  • If in doubt about tickets you see online, call Playhouse Square at 216-241-6000 to verify that you are looking at tickets on our website or to make your purchase by phone. Playhouse Square is unable to verify the authenticity of tickets available for sale on unauthorized third party websites or purchased from third parties.
  • If you discover you have purchased tickets from an unauthorized third party, contact your credit card company to see if they can decline the sale for you.

What are the risks of buying from a third party?

  • You will pay more than face value for tickets when tickets at face value (and often in a better location!) may be available through Playhouse Square.
  • You could end up with tickets for seats and/or performance dates that do not exist.
  • You are supporting businesses that make it hard for true fans to see their favorite performers or shows.
  • We reserve the right to revoke tickets that have been sold for more than face value. If you are holding a revoked ticket, you will not be admitted and will not receive a refund.
  • In the rare event that a performance is cancelled, you will have to track down the third party to receive a refund.

Be aware! Buy only from the Playhouse Square Ticket Office, playhousesquare.org, 216-241-6000 or your licensed group/travel leader.
