The Dazzle Awards program will provide adjudication for participating high schools in seven counties throughout Northeast Ohio. The seven counties are Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit. The adjudication window is November through mid-April. Adjudication consists of robust educational feedback and numeric scoring for all eligible categories. Adjudicators are responsible for evaluating how well each school production meets or exceeds its potential. Each production is evaluated against itself, rather than against all other school productions, encouraging schools to create the best possible work in their unique circumstance and environment.
Playhouse Square is seeking candidates with a generous spirit and a goal of aiding in a school’s and student’s artistic growth. We are looking for candidates who have extensive experience in at least one performing arts discipline and a strong sense of objectivity and professionalism. Panelists must adjudicate a minimum number of productions each school year. Adjudicators are asked to attend a variety of productions showcasing the diversity of participating schools, which may require traveling up to 60 minutes from home. Scheduling is based on availability, program needs, and any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest.
To maintain the integrity of the adjudication process, adjudicators may not evaluate productions at schools with which they have a current, recent, or otherwise significant affiliation. Affiliations may include employment, teaching, coaching, directing, private instruction, volunteer service, alumni status, family relationships, or other connections that could create an actual or perceived conflict of interest. Applicants and adjudicators are required to disclose any such relationships that exist at the time of application and/or arise during their service to the program. Applicants and adjudicators may be recused from evaluating affected schools at the discretion of the Dazzle Awards program.
