Paul Taylor Dance Company is renowned for their movement invention, athleticism and intricate musicality. The evening will include some of the company's most beloved favorites, including the beautiful classic, Airs (1978) that highlights the lyricism and power of the dancers and explores relationships and romance, alongside brand new works pushing the company into the future such as Amy Hall Garner's Somewhere in the Middle, which showcases colorful costumes accompanied by American Jazz favorites to create an effervescent, joyous mood: "It's like jazz day at the beach," according to The New York Times. The last piece on the program, Promethean Fire (2002) was created in the wake of 9/11, Taylor made this work, proclaiming that even after a cataclysmic event, the human spirit finds renewal and emerges triumphant.
