Facilities Maintenance - Groundskeeper

  • Full-Time Hourly, Benefits Included
  • Salary: Starting rate is $25/hour

Job Summary: 

The Maintenance team supports Playhouse Square theaters, public spaces, and administrative areas by ensuring facilities, building systems, and equipment are maintained in safe, reliable, and efficient working conditions. This role performs groundskeeping, maintenance, and repairs to support daily operations, performances, and special events while delivering a positive experience for guests, artists, staff, and visitors.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Groundskeeping, Maintenance & Repairs 

  • Maintains the appearance of facility grounds including lawn care, planting beds, and outdoor common areas. 

  • Performs general maintenance and repairs including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, plastering, HVAC controls, and roofing. 

  • Continually inspects facilities and grounds while performing routine assignments to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns. 

  • Monitors safety systems and enforces all applicable safety procedures and policies. 

  • Maintains Playhouse Square property, equipment, and tools in good working order. 

  • Completes work orders accurately and performs other duties as assigned. 

Performance & Event Support 

  • Supports Playhouse Square performances and special events with proper access, lighting, temperature control, and assistance with set up and restoration. 

  • Assists guests, artists, staff, and visitors as needed in a courteous and professional manner. 

  • Works collaboratively with housekeeping, security, and other departments. 

Required Skills and Attributes: 

  • Experience with professional landscaping and horticultural services.  

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. 

  • Ability to regularly climb, crouch, reach, and stand for extended periods. 

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Trade school training or equivalent experience. 

  • Experience operating groundskeeping equipment including Bobcat, Toolcat, and power accessories.  

  • Valid pesticide applicators license or ability to pass examination within one year of hire. 

  • Knowledge of PC hardware/software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and CMMS systems.
