2020 Dazzle Awards Virtual Chorus

WATCH DAZZLE AWARDS VIRTUAL CHORUS

There is nothing quite like the energy that fills Playhouse Square during the night of the Dazzle Awards presented by Pat and John Chapman. The Dazzle Awards celebrate excellence and achievement in Northeast Ohio high school musical theater.

How we wish we could feel that energy now and celebrate our Dazzle Awards students in the way we intended!

We could not let the opportunity for showcasing some of these amazing students pass by, so we invited representatives from each 2019-20 Dazzle Awards school, selected by their directors, to shine in a virtual chorus of “Morning Glow” from the Stephen Schwartz musical PIPPIN. And shine they did! Their enthusiasm, passion, positivity and talent are inspiring. We know they, and the arts, will prevail.

Playhouse Square would like to thank Dazzle Awards Director/Choreographer Rommy Sandhu, Dazzle Awards Music Director Joel Mercier, Sign Language Interpretation Coach Larry Nehring, and Geoff Yaw, Mike Carissimi and Colleen Bedell from Think Media Studios for all their efforts to make this presentation possible.

Playhouse Square would also like to thank Pat and John Chapman, John P. Murphy Foundation, ABARTA Coca-Cola Beverages, Meijer, Medical Mutual, PNC Bank and University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital for their support of the Dazzle Awards program.

Sing Your Song

Now, ideastream and Playhouse Square invite all Northeast Ohio high school students whose spring musicals were canceled to “sing your song!” Record a video of you singing a song from your musical (could be a song from the role you were cast in or not – the choice is yours) on your phone, tablet or computer and upload it to YouTube. Make sure to let us know what this song and musical mean to you in the description field of your YouTube post.

In June, ideastream will feature a number of the submissions online and on the air during “The Sound of Ideas” with Mike McIntyre on 90.3 FM WCPN.

Learn more and submit your video by Friday, May 22 at ideastream.org/singyoursong.
