For more than a decade, it has been an icon of the Playhouse Square District and downtown Cleveland. The Playhouse Square Chandelier presented by GE Lighting, a Savant company, dazzles both residents and visitors alike as they explore Euclid Avenue before or after attending a performance in one of our historic theaters. To celebrate this larger-than-life structure, we’re diving into some fun facts and stats!
4,200 – The number of crystals that adorn the Playhouse Square Chandelier. Each crystal took 20 minutes to string by hand.
20 - The Playhouse Square Chandelier itself stands at 20 feet tall at the intersection of East 14th Street and Euclid Avenue. It is suspended by a 44-foot-high steel structure.
8,500 – The number of pounds that the Playhouse Square Chandelier weighs.
1 – The number of test ice storms a prototype of the chandelier was put through to test its readiness for Cleveland winters.
68 – The number of LED lights that illuminate the Playhouse Square Chandelier, thanks to GE Lighting.
100 – The strength of winds (miles per hour) it is designed to withstand … ready for whatever Northeast Ohio weather has in store.
