The countdown is on! In just a few short weeks, Nicole Scherzinger - acclaimed vocalist and 2025 Tony Award winner - will take the stage at Playhouse Square for our Center Stage Benefit on November 8!
This year’s Center Stage Benefit supports Playhouse Square’s Arts & Minds initiative, which brings the transformative power of the arts to individuals with neurological disorders across Northeast Ohio. Through interactive, inclusive programming, Arts & Minds uses creativity to connect, uplift, and inspire our community.
As we prepare to welcome Nicole to Playhouse Square for this special evening, we’re taking a look back at five of her most unforgettable, jaw-dropping, standing ovation vocal performances from the world of Broadway. Enjoy!
'Memory'
Nicole captivated London audiences as Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS in 2014. Her powerhouse performance earned her an Olivier Award nomination and reintroduced her to the world as a commanding musical theater presence — one who could balance vocal brilliance with heart-stopping vulnerability, oh so evident in her rendition of "Memory."
'The Phantom of the Opera'
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera, Nicole shared the stage with four legendary Phantoms for a breathtaking rendition of the show’s title number "The Phantom of the Opera'' at the 2011 Royal Variety Performance. Her rich tone and stage presence lit up the Royal Albert Hall, creating one of the most memorable moments in the musical’s storied history.
'Don't Cry For Me Argentina'
From Andrew Lloyd Webber: 40 Musical Years, which aired in the U.K. in 2013, Nicole delivered a breathtaking rendition of the Evita classic “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina.” With elegance and emotional clarity, she showcased her ability to honor a timeless musical theater ballad.
'Never Enough'
Nicole joined with other musical theatre stars to bring us joy during lockdown back in 2021 with a one night only show celebrating all things musical theater at The London Palladium. Her incredible range is wonderfully showcased in the modern musical hit "Never Enough" from the movie musical The Greatest Showman.
'As If We Never Said Goodbye'
Her heart-stopping performance of “As If We Never Said Goodbye” in Jamie Lloyd’s Sunset Boulevard was nothing short of a musical theater masterclass. Her Tony and Olivier Award-winning portrayal of Norma Desmond was one for the ages. Goosebumps!
