Cleveland will once again be the first city to see the touring cast of a hit Broadway show, as the hilarious new musical comedy Death Becomes Her launches its national tour from Playhouse Square in the fall. Based on the 1992 movie by the same name, it is the savagely funny musical about two best frenemies who would do anything to look eternally fabulous, including drinking a secret magic potion. Technical rehearsals will begin in mid-August ahead of the official tour opening in September.

Joining Death Becomes Her (September 12 - October 3, 2026) on the season are acclaimed new shows Maybe Happy Ending (March 2 – 21, 2027), a heartwarming story of a chance encounter that sparks connection and adventure that was the winner of six 2025 Tony Awards including Best Musical; Buena Vista Social Club™ (July 27 – August 15, 2027), direct from Broadway, this five-time Tony Award®–winning musical is an uplifting story inspired by true events that brings the GRAMMY® Award–winning album to life; BOOP!® The Musical (February 2 – 21, 2027), based on the iconic animated character Betty Boop®, who leaves her black-and-white world and steps into a colorful adventure filled with romance, comedy, and heart in the new musical comedy for audiences of all ages; and Harry Potter and The Cursed Child (August 24 – September 12, 2027), a magical Tony Award® winning play that continues the wizarding world of Harry Potter with a glimpse into the adventures of his son at Hogwarts.
The season also includes two titles that are no strangers to Playhouse Square stages. The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again – Cameron Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s legendary musical, The Phantom of the Opera (April 14 – May 9. 2027), returning in a spectacular new production featuring Maria Bjorson’s brilliant original design and based on the celebrated direction by Harold Prince with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne. And the global smash hit Mamma Mia! (January 5– 24, 2027), featuring a story about a mother, a daughter, three possible dads and a trip down the aisle you’ll never forget, returns as a title on the KeyBank Broadway Series season for the first time in 25 years.
