The haunting season is upon us again theatergoers, and we’ve prepared a Broadway costume guide complete with looks from modern musicals and classics alike. Join us as we peruse the costume racks to put together the most spooktacular looks for you and your scare crew.
VELMA AND ROXIE - CHICAGO
It would be a crime to dismiss these two merry murderesses in your costume plans this Halloween. Throw on a lacy black dress and some red lipstick to woo the judges with some “Razzle Dazzle” or grab your crew and some leotards and fishnet stockings to show out as the women of Cook County Jail from the famous “Cell Block Tango.”

BEETLEJUICE - BEETLEJUICE
Since its appearance at Playhouse Square this past August, we’ve had Beetlejuice: The Musical stuck in our heads-- so naturally we’re telling everyone to stock up on black and white this Halloween. All it takes is a striped suit, messy hairdo and a bad attitude to pull together the deliciously demonic look of Mr. Beetlejuice himself. Grab a friend to join you as Lydia or gather a gaggle of Beetlejuices to take to the streets and make them say your name!

MRS. TRUNCHBULL- MATILDA
If you’re after a villainous Broadway-inspired costume, look no further than the terrifying Miss Trunchbull from Matilda the Musical. To get the look, pull on a grey suit and skirt, add chunky boots and tie up the tightest slick-back bun. Bring along a fake shotput ball and no child will dare come between you and a bag full of candy this Halloween.

THE HEATHERS - HEATHERS
This iconic trio costume will have you and your friends running the streets this Halloween. Grab a Chandler, McNamara and Duke and their respective colors of red, yellow and green to pull together an ‘80s-era monochrome look fit for high school royalty. Feel free to add some croquet mallets that can double as cute accessories and self-defense in case you run into any JDs out there.

AUDREY II AND SEYMOUR - LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
Step onto the streets of Skid Row in style with this campy costume duo. Little Shop of Horrors is full of costume potential, from Audrey to Mr. Mushnik to the Dentist, but our favorites have to be Seymour and Audrey II. Seymour’s costume is simple and unassuming with a blue button down and thick, nerdy glasses, but your look will become instantlyrecognizable alongside the man-eater that is Audrey II. Her look is a bit more complicated, and feel free to go all out with the paper mache—but a simple green outfit and toothy headband will also do the trick.

ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE - HADESTOWN
Halloween is full of ghosts and ghouls, but nothing’s more frightening than a bad breakup. Grab your partner and show out as Orpheus and Eurydice from the classic myth turned hit musical Hadestown with earthy tones and a scarf and bandana as neckties to complete this stylishly steampunk look. Just be careful not to look back before you reach the party.
